The latest release of Thunderbird (3.1.4) changes the way E-mail accounts are setup and detected. With this version the program Setup Wizard will automatically try and detect what accounts and settings to use (assuming you are installing on top of an existing, older version of Thunderbird). If you have recently upgraded Thunderbird, please check the following information as we have found that the Setup Wizard does not always guess the correct settings to use.
Manually Configuring your Email Account
- From the Thunderbird menu, go to Tools > Account Settings.
- Select "Server Settings" from the Account Settings menu options.
- The first thing to check is to see if the "Server Type" value is set to "POP Mail Server".
- If it does not read POP, you must manually delete this account and recreate a new one. We know this workaround is not ideal, and can be time consuming and not very user-friendly. We have included a screenshot to help illustrate:

Settings you will need to input on this new Mail Account Setup screen are as follows:
Incoming and Outgoing
=
mail.yourdomain.com

"POP"
, Port as
110
, and select
"None"
Outgoing should be set as

, Port as
587
, and select

When finished with these settings, press the

button
- Check the Server Name value. This should read mail.yourdomain.com (this is mailman.c4.net for all @c4.net accounts)
- Check the Port value, this should be set to 110.
