Malware Targeting Android Devices
In a recent TechRepublic article, " Droidpak: A sneak attack on Android devices via PC malware", Symantec has identified a new malware that targets Android mobile devices.
The malware program talked about in the article, Droidpak, attempts to first install itself on a Windows computer, then tries to connect to a remote website, and then tries to download itself onto Android mobile phones. If it installs itself on an Android phone, it will appear on the homescreen looking like a very realistic yet fake version of the Google "Play Store" app. The Droidpak is ultimately trying to gain access to banking information. With the emergence of malware targeting smartphones, it may be time to start looking at antivirus programs for your phone.
