Infected Machines Lose Internet Access on 7/9
As a follow up to a news article we reported back in April, the FBI is planning to shut down DNS servers they have been maintaining on July 9th. Machines that are infected with DNSChanger malware will lose their connection to the Internet if they don't remove the malware before that date.
Web users are encouraged to check if their machines are infected before July 9, and fix the issue if it exists. If they don't, the Internet will not be available to those machines.
Google and Facebook are both offering assistance with this issue, by issuing alert style messaging to web users with infected machines. Along with the alert messages, Google and Facebook will provide additional details about DNSChanger malware along with links to instructions on how to remove it.
