Friends of Herring River Grant
Massachusetts has just announced a $1 million dollar grant to advance the Herring River restoration project in Wellfleet. The grant was awarded by the Department of Fish and Game’s Division of Ecological Restoration. The Herring River restoration project also received a $1 million dollar grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Restoration Center. The grants will allow the Friends of Herring River and their project partners to begin the next phase of this large-scale estuary restoration. The Friends of Herring River is a non-profit organization based in Wellfleet, and will manage the project.
c4.net has been working with The Friends of Herring River since 2008, providing them with an online presence for the organization. Under the guidance of Don Palladino, President of The Friends of Herring River, c4.net developed and hosts their website www.friendsofherringriver.org. The Friends website works with Adobe Contribute, a simple software program that allows The Friends to manage and maintain content on their end (without requiring a web developer). The website contains current information about the restoration project, a video and photos of the project and area, copies of newsletters from the organization, and an easy way to donate online. Early this fall we will meet with Don to look at redesign options, and possibly going responsive.
We’d like to congratulate The Friends of Herring River on the grant funding, and wish them continued success in their important endeavors!
