Several customers have reported that they have recently received email messages which try to get them to either click on a website link, or to download and run an attached file. These messages appear to be malicious in nature and should be deleted.
At this time we have seen two different email messages of this nature. The messages have been sent to several different domain names, we have used c4.net for illustration purposes below.SAMPLE 1
SUBJECT : To the owner of the firstname.lastname@example.org email accountWe are informing you that because of the security upgrade of the mailing service your mailbox (email@example.com) settings were changed. In order to apply the new set of settings click on the following link:
Best regards, c4.net Technical Support.
SUBJECT : Microsoft Outlook Notification for the firstname.lastname@example.orgYou have (6) New Message from Outlook Microsoft
- Please re-configure your Microsoft Outlook Again.
- Download attached setup file and install.
We have added some filters in an attempt to block these messages, however if you receive either of these messages do not follow the link or download the attached file.
