How do I configure mail on my iPhone or iPad?

This FAQ article provides an overview of Email Account settings for c4 customers, if you are setting up an account on your iPhone or iPad. Depending on what type Email Account you are setting up (an account or an @yourdomain account), you may need to provide slightly different information. These differences are described below.

Manually Configuring your Email Account

  1. On the iPhone or iPad, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Tap Add Account…
  4. Tap Other.
  5. Tap Add Mail Account.
  6. Complete the Name, Email (full email address), Password and Description fields.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select POP*.
  9. Enter your Incoming Mail Server information:
    Host Name = for an Email Account ~ OR ~ for hosted domains (i.e.
    User Name = The part of your Email Address before the @ symbol Password = Provided to you by c4
  10. Enter your Outgoing Mail Server information:
    (Use the same settings as described in the previous step)
    The password for outgoing mail field is required, it is not optional as the screen indicates.
  11. Tap Save.
  12. You will see the prompt, "Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?"
  13. Tap Yes.
  14. You will see the prompt again, "Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?"
  15. Tap Yes, and then tap Save.
  16. Tap the Home button.

*If you would prefer to use IMAP, follow the instructions above, however, in step 8 choose 'IMAP' and the incoming mail server port should be set to 143.


The following information lists expected settings for your mail account configuration. If you are having issues with a mail account on an iPhone or iPad, please check all settings:

  • Email: ‹Email Address›
  • Host Name: or
  • User Name: ‹User Name›
  • Password: ‹Password›
  • SMTP -> Primary Mail Server
    • Host Name: or
    • User Name: ‹User Name› (you can also try your full email address in the username field)
    • Password: ‹Password›
    • Use SSL: Off
    • Authentication: MD5 Challenge-Response
    • Server Port: 587
  • Advanced
    • Use SSL: Off
    • Authentication: Password
    • Server Port: 110
    • S/MIME: Off
