A Day Late and a Dollar Short

A new variant of a familiar worm has been spreading. We didn't notice it at first because, well, it's just so hard to keep track of all these darn viruses. Regardless, as of this moment, Sobig.E accounts for over 1/3 of the virus infected e-mails sent to our servers.

Sobig.E purports to be from yahoo.com. Needless to say, it isn't. It contains an attachment named one of the following:

Once the worm has infected a computer, it uses its own mail engine to forward copies of itself to everyone in your Outlook address book. It also tries to infect other computers on the network.

Like its big brother, Sobig.A, Sobig.E doesn't seem to do any permanent damage to a system. However, if your computer gets infected, you will need to have it serviced by a computer repair technician. It's much cheaper to take a minute and make sure your Anti-Virus software is up-to-date.
