5 Questions with Bob Jenkins of Local Hooker Rods

When Bob Jenkins, owner of Local Hooker Rods was looking for a local business to expand and maintain his web site, he met with several companies but decided on c4.net Internet Services. "I liked their professionalism, outlook and attitude immediately" says Bob. He launched his custom saltwater fishing rod business three years ago out of Chatham, then moved to Falmouth, Massachusetts. Since that time, he has expanded his online business to sell his custom Rods and Apparel, added an interactive Blog feature, added a "Sharkin" video, and updates Dealer information where you can find his products in brick and mortar storefronts. "c4 has made my life easy. They are always there to help and assist me with questions and find solutions to problems! That’s great service & support…"

One of Bob's main goals in meeting with c4.net was to find a way to expand his online audience reach, be able to interact with online visitors, and keep visitors updated on current news and happenings. To achieve this goal, we implemented a Blog feature on his web site where people can optionally Subscribe to receive email notification when updates are posted. Using the Blog, Bob is able to share stories and pictures of people using his Rods and wearing his Apparel, showcase satisfied customer testimonials, and promote the amazing PR he is getting from the Cape Cod Times and On The Water Magazine.

Recently we caught up with Bob and asked him 5 Questions to share with you:

Question: What would you say is one of the best things about operating your business on Cape Cod?
Answer: The Cape is a lifestyle. I used to be a sales manager for a high-tech videoconferencing company. I traveled 80% of the time. In fact, I was on the 39th floor of WTC-I on 9/11 when the first plane hit the building. I opted for a lifestyle change and Local Hooker Rods was born shortly after.

Question: What are some benefits of having moved your web site maintenance and hosting, email and online store to be managed locally here on Cape Cod?
Answer: Local, local, local… I call and c4 is there to help. I schedule an appointment and we meet in their office to go over my ideas. I see instant results. The service & support are great! I do not have a bad thing to say whatsoever. These guys (and girls) are great!

Question: The Blog aspect of your web site seems like it's a really big hit! What are some tips you can give other business owners on how to leverage a Blog for their business?
Answer: I was skeptical at first. I didn't have a full understanding of the benefits of a blog. I do now. In fact, I was coaching a good friend who has a high-end gallery in Boston on the features & benefits of a blog just this morning. It's a must-have feature for very good reasons.

Question: What are three things you want people to know about your web site, LocalHookerRods.com?
Answer: 1) who I am, 2) what I do, 3) How I do it & where to buy my rods. Local Hooker Rods is a high-end custom fishing rod builder. All our rods are custom built here in New England by a master rod builder with 30 years of rod-building experience.

Question: Lastly, where is your favorite place to go fishing on Cape Cod?
Answer: I have a few. In-shore; I like the back-side of Strong Island in the early spring. I love to fish for stripers off the tip of Monomoy too. For big game off-shore; Crab-Ledge, BC and a few "secret spots" are always good.
