The Town of Eastham Emergency Communications Department is operated out of the police
facility. It operates twenty four hours a day seven days a week. This communications center serves
also as the land band 9-1-1 primary phone answering point for all emergency calls within the boundaries of
Eastham. The telecommunicators dispatch via radio and telephone with the Police, Fire &
Emergency Medical Services, Natural Resources and Highway Departments.

The dispatchers represent the vital link to all forms of emergency services for the residents and
guest of our community. The dispatchers answer well over 100,000 phone calls annually. Most
telephone communications are taped but lines are also available un-taped if desired. We currently
use state of the art communications equipment instant play back recorders, Dictaphone recorders, Enhanced 9-1-1 systems with Master Street Address Guide information, Motorola Centracom II radio console, TDY capable. This entire system is supported by uninterruptible power supplies and an
emergency generator system capable of running the center indefinitely.
The
center is staffed with one dispatcher per shift. In the event of a significant
event such as a severe storm or local emergency the services of an additional
dispatcher may be placed into service.
The tele-communicators may be reached by calling the general information phone line at
508-255-0551 at any time.
911 Cell
Note: If you dial 911 from your cellular phone in
Eastham, or anywhere else in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you will be
answered by the State Police in Framingham. You will need to advise them where
you are and what the problem is; the State Police dispatcher is well training in
handling and/or transferring your call to the Eastham Police Dispatcher.
