A Belated Happy Birthday to the Browser

Tuesday, April 29, 2003

The Mosaic Web browser was invented 10 years ago on April 22, 1993. Mosaic was the first popular browser. Microsoft's Internet Explorer itself, which most people just associate with the big blue "e" on their desktop, still reads "Based on NCSA Mosaic" in the "About" dialog box. The browser was developed by a group of students at the University of Illinois, and the Internet hasn't been the same since.
