Virus Double Shot

Monday, January 13, 2003

Last week, we posted a virus warning about Lirva, who made a brief appearance in our neck of the words. Today, I came into the office to find the mail server had blocked several virus infected messages on their way to my inbox. The message weren't infected with Lirva -- or Klez, for that matter -- but a new virus, Sobig.

Luckily, like Lirva, Sobig doesn't cause much damage. It's also fairly easy to identify by it's subject line, which takes one of the following forms:

  • Re: Movies
  • Re: Sample
  • Re: Document
  • Re: Here is that sample

So, as always, this is just a friendly reminder to update your anti-virus software, purchase one if you don't already have some, or be happy that you're still on a Mac. :)
